NEW PODCAST VIDEO: The White Lotus episode 1 recap
launching a new podcast today with my friend on the movies and shows you love, but from a cinematic analysis and psychological point of view. it's called SCENE UNSEEN.
I know this may feel kind of confusing. so I’ve co-hosted a podcast (and still do) for years called I Don’t Get It.
I launched this substack which has a podcast component and that’s called I Couldn’t Help But Wonder…obvs.
AND NOW (lolllll) i’m co-hosting a podcast that launches today with my friend/brother (it feels like we were separated at birth) Dr. G - Christian Gonzalez - called Scene Unseen.
G - which is what I call him - is the host of a huge wellness podcast called Heal Thy Self. he’s a mental health functional doctor who specializes in emotional releases and somatic practices. basically he’s an exorcist for all the trapped emotions we repress in our bodies that lead to health problems.
he’s been telling me I have an angry woman inside of me and that that’s a big cause for my bloating/gut issues. it’s hard to express anger in a healthy way (esp as a woman) because then we’re seen as a bitch - so i’ve been currently working on healthy ways to express my anger when i’m home alone so I don’t keep it trapped in. how many of us experience something that is so fucking annoying but we have to smile and say “no worries, that’s fine!”
ANNNYWHOOO
you obviously know by now if you’ve read my substack that I work in hollywood, i’m a film critic, I love covering television and motion pictures, blah blah, and i’ve found that it’s hard to infuse or talk about consciousness in the industry. it’s almost like companies don’t want you to ask “the deeper stuff” or maybe aren’t there yet? I always found a way to infuse it in my work somehow, but I never fully had a platform (aside from substack) where I could go realllyyy deep on the subject as it pertains to tv and film.
G and I realized that he loves movies and can’t talk about movies on his wellness podcast, and that I love mental health and consciousness but didn’t have an outlet where I could express that on video fully.
so that’s how our new podcast SCENE UNSEEN was born. he literally text me 2 weeks ago, and much like this substack which came together last minute out of nowhere, I was kinda like fuck it. i’m into attracting things and following things that flow and come to me vs. spending months trying to make or force something to happen. so here we are!
on Scene Unseen, I will break down cool behind the scenes facts on the show or film we cover as well as my overall thoughts on it. G will breakdown the psyhe behind each character in a show or film so that we can learn more about the human psyche and how to better handle our own emotions through our favorite shows and movies.
we’re starting with The White Lotus because it’s a master class in human behavior and it’s just so juicy.
here’s the official description: Welcome to Scene Unseen, where Dr. Christian Gonzalez (Dr. G) and Naz Perez explore the emotional and psychological depths of your favorite TV shows. Through a blend of cinematic analysis and psychological insight, we uncover the unseen layers of storytelling—character motivations, subconscious themes, and the deeper truths hidden in film and television.
